New plane project-Blohm Voss P.215
A WW2 German design that never had a chance to be built...thankfully
I have always wanted to build an RCB Blohm Voss BV P. 215 but they no longer make them. This is a late war design and if it had been made by the Germans would have been a real problem for the Allies. But they were made as models both free flight and radio control. Then I remembered I had this rocket powered free flight kit in my stash. It’s small and free flight but a great starting point.
The above model was built by Mike Stuart.
So I thought I'd blow up the plans that came with the kit but I found some 300 dpi plans of the same model plans online. First thing I had to do was match the two sheets in size. For some reason they weren't matched. I suppose since they were taken from the kit the parts page didn't have to be the same size as the plan sheet to build on. But using the scale below it was easy and they match.
Now that both pages are the same size I'm going to scale them up to a 48 inch span which fits the 70mm 11 blade fan and motor I have nicely. I'll put the retracts in too.
I have seen numerous videos of these planes flying as RC and they fly very well.
Next is to enlarge the plans and from them make the files to laser cut the entire kit and start building. Nothing like a project like this to keep you young and excited.
Looks fun, wonder how pitchy that will be.
